Hungarian Hot Wax Pepper
Place peppers in full sun in warm climates, but be sure they have access to shade in hot temperatures. Keep well-watered. Stake to keep fruit off the ground, mulch for disease and weed control. These medium-hot, spicy peppers should be used fresh, canned, or pickled. Often mistaken for the banana pepper, the ‘Hungarian Hot Wax’ Pepper is generally larger in size and delivers a more powerful punch! Typically these glossy fruits are harvested when they are still bright yellow and approximately the length of a hand. If left to fully mature, brilliant hues of oranges and reds follow. Removing the seeds and ribs greatly reduces the heat factor of these popular Peppers, but to enjoy the full flavor of the zesty fruits, leave them in.
