Description:
Iris germanica 'On Mulberry Street'
Soft standards in pale blue are heavily veined and dappled with red-violet, while the falls present bold blue-violet tones fading to red-violet near the edges, with a yellow signal at the throat. The petal edges are ruffled with a fancy style, giving each bloom a lush, painterly look. Blooming in late spring to early summer, this iris creates a showy display in moist, sunny or part-shade locations.
Reaching about 24-32 inches tall (60-80 cm), it forms elegant upright clumps with grass-like foliage that remains attractive even when the flowers fade. It thrives in moist, well-drained soils, tolerates partial shade, and is hardy in Zones 3-9. It works well in borders, by water gardens, or in mixed plantings where its height and color contrast can shine.
