Other Names: Siberian Bugloss, Brunnera Macrophila, Jack Frost
Description:
Brunnera macrophylla 'Jack Frost'
Heart-shaped leaves heavily overlaid with silvery white, edged and veined in dark green, create a luminous, frosted effect that brightens shaded garden spots. In mid to late spring, sprays of tiny sky-blue “forget-me-not” flowers rise above the foliage, offering delicate contrast. It forms a tidy, mounded clump about 12-15 inches tall, spreading to about 18-20 inches across.
Prefers part shade to full shade, though it can tolerate morning sun if kept moist; strong midday sun risks leaf scorch. The plant thrives in consistently moist, rich, fertile soil with good drainage, but is not drought tolerant. Low maintenance: trim back old or damaged leaves in early spring, divide every few years to maintain vigour.
