Delphinium elatum 'Magic Fountains Dark Blue White Bee'
Dark blue petals surround a crisp white “bee” (center) on sturdy, upright flower spikes that provide dramatic color contrast. The plant forms a dense mound of lobed, deep green foliage, from which tall flowering stems rise in early summer. Because the blooms open from the bottom up, your display lasts a long time across the flowering period.
Grown best in full sun in rich, moist, well-drained soil, this delphinium is bred to be more compact and less dependent on staking compared to older tall varieties. Deadheading spent blooms helps encourage possible reblooms. It is hardy in cold climates (Zones ~ 3-7), though in hot, humid summers mildew can be a problem and plants may not persist many years without some care.
