Other Names: Russian Sage, Salvia Yangii
Description:
Salvia yangii 'Jelena'
Soft lavender-blue flower spikes float above silvery-green, aromatic foliage in this compact Russian Sage. ‘Jelena’ has an upright yet graceful habit, reaching about 14-18 inches tall and similar in width. Its airy blossoms bloom from midsummer into fall, bringing both texture and long-lasting color to hot, dry garden areas.
This cultivar thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerates drought once established, and prefers lean soil over rich compost to avoid flopping. With minimal maintenance — a hard cut-back in early spring for fresh growth — it works beautifully in borders, gravel gardens, or as a fragrant, pollinator-friendly accent.
