Other Names: Sweet Woodruff, Sweet-Scented Bedstraw
Description:
Galium odoratum
Sweet Woodruff is a charming, low-growing perennial groundcover prized for its delicate white, star-shaped flowers and attractive whorls of bright green foliage. Blooming in late spring, its dainty flowers create a soft carpet of white above the lush leaves, which release a pleasant, sweet hay-like fragrance when crushed or dried.
Perfect for woodland gardens, shady borders, and planting beneath trees and shrubs, Sweet Woodruff gradually spreads to form a dense, weed-suppressing groundcover. It thrives in cool, shaded locations with consistent moisture and is an excellent choice for bringing texture and seasonal interest to difficult shady areas.
