Other Names: Sweet Potato Vine, Ipomoea Batatas
Description:
Ipomoea batatas 'Sidekick Black Heart'
A dramatic foliage plant featuring large, heart-shaped leaves in rich shades of deep purple and nearly black, creating a striking contrast against colourful flowering annuals and bright green foliage. Unlike traditional sweet potato vines that can quickly overwhelm neighbouring plants, 'Sidekick Black Heart' offers a semi-compact, bushy habit with graceful trailing stems, making it an excellent choice for hanging baskets, window boxes, mixed containers and garden borders. Its velvety, dark colouring becomes even more intense in full sun, while its vigorous growth and excellent heat tolerance provide lush, season-long interest. Particularly beautiful alongside chartreuse foliage, vibrant pink flowers and silver-leaved plants, this versatile variety adds depth and drama to virtually any planting combination.
