Other Names: Ornamental Sweet Potato Vine, Ipomoea Batatas
Description:
Ipomoea batatas 'Sweet Caroline Medusa Black'
A dramatic foliage plant featuring uniquely shaped, deeply divided, palm-like leaves in rich shades of purple-black. Unlike traditional sweet potato vines with long, trailing stems, 'Medusa Black' develops a dense, billowing mound of overlapping foliage, creating an almost fern-like appearance. Its distinctive leaf shape and striking dark colouring make it an exceptional choice for hanging baskets, mixed containers and garden borders, where it contrasts beautifully with chartreuse foliage and brightly coloured flowers. Exceptionally heat tolerant and vigorous, this improved variety maintains a fuller, more controlled habit than traditional sweet potato vines, providing season-long colour and texture with minimal maintenance.
